Growth Hormone and Steroids
Many people confuse growth hormone and steroids, and for this reason, many people are opposed to growth hormone without really knowing what it is or what it does.
The first major difference between growth hormone and steroids is that growth hormone is a naturally occurring chemical in the body.
It is released by the brain’s pituitary gland, and it not only controls the growth of the body during a person’s youth, but it also helps the body with its metabolism and immune system.
And growth hormone, like steroids, can help a person grow larger muscles, so this might be one of the ways in which people conflate the two substances. Growth hormone and steroids also differ in the side effects that they produce.
Steroids often results in all kinds of adverse side effects, including (but not limited to) uncontrollable bursts of anger, diminished testicles, and problems with sexual performance.
Growth hormone can be dangerous, too, especially if too much of it is taken over too long a period of time (injections are especially dangerous if they are given to you by someone who isn’t a professional).
But by and large, because HGH occurs naturally in the body, taking extra growth hormone really doesn’t result in bad side effects for the body.
There are other major differences between growth hormone and steroids. If you were to enter an athletic competition, then steroids would almost certainly be banned.
That’s not necessarily the case with human growth hormone; however, you will need a prescription if you are going to take human growth hormone through an injection.
For young people who are interested in working out, getting fit, and building muscle, it’s best to avoid both growth hormone and steroids, and simply concentrate on working out as best you can. The body produces plenty of human growth hormone naturally until at least the age of twenty-one, and to take extra growth hormone might simply throw your body’s delicate systems out of whack. And kids should definitely steer clear of steroids; the effects of these substances are simply too harmful and way too dangerous.
